PSA: Having Band Steering enabled on your wireless router can adversely impact your Stadia controller's wireless connectivity.

If you're like me and have many devices old and new on your wifi network this is definately something you might want to look into regarding your wireless network configuration. Band Steering allows you to have both your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network under the same SSID (Network Name). The Stadia controller can connect on either the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band. For couple of months I would have intermittent disconnects of my controller while playing and because of the random nature of the drops I had a difficult time pinning it down.
I finally came to the step of splitting my network into separate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks by disabling Band Steering to resolve the issue. This resolved my connectivity issues completely. Band Steering in conjunction with the many different devices on my network was the problem. This issue wasn't Immediately apparent and didn't arise until more devices were added to my network over time.
I now run my Stadia controllers on my now independent 5Ghz network. Please note this choice of bands may vary for others based on distance from their wireless router, physical obstructions, and sources of wireless interference that may exist in their network environment. In some circumstances 2.4Ghz may be more stable for the controller connectivity depending on the previously mentioned factors. I felt I should share here so that anyone else troubleshooting controller connectivity issues can reference this post should they run into the same problem.

Asus DSL-AC68U router impacts CIFS shares on reboot

My Asus DSL-AC68U dsl router occasionally (around once a week) loses its way and starts dropping connections. Sadly, the most time-efficient rescue I have just now is to restart. Whether restarting through the web admin interface or by using the power button on the device, something happens to my CIFS shares (hosted on a local Linux server, and connected from a couple of Windows clients, & sundry media players) during the reboot. CIFS connections are lost, though they return soon after the reboot (of the router).
If I pull the LAN connector out of the router for the reboot, the CIFS connections are fine, but I shouldn't have to do this.
No n/w diagram, but in essence it is just router -> switch, and the switch has a patch to the Linux server nearby, then a patch to the rest of the LAN, which is 10.0.0.0/24 - in case that's relevant.
Can anyone suggest what's happening here?
